So I guess tomas is not being a ggood boy and doing his journaling about our time in Denmark. well thats ok, not like he has a job or something....
So just got back from Finland, and headed out of scandinavia today. Seems like I had a bit of bad luck, which is unfortunate, with the ferry from Finland and the trains in Sweden, so I will probably have to forgo a few days of my trip around Europe, namely the days in Belgium and Cologne. well, oh well. But I will be in Paris soon.
Sweden was a cool country, very beautiful. when I mean cool, its not to cold to sleep outside a train station The company was great and for the time I actually had my own apartment, which was rockin! also I managed to get to Finland with little difficulty, despite the fact that for a modern country, sweden seems to have a very overpopulated rail system, in that trains are always and everyday far more full than they should be, meaning I have to pay extra just for a seat. But I had a great time with Ann and Caroline, got to have traditional swedish cafeteria food (something like forehead beef?) and then managed to get new shoes, which are cool and don't fall apart.
Finland was a hell of an experience. Elina made sure of that from the moment I got off the boat. First, seeing her, it was just awesome, then we had breakfast at her place with some traditional finnish bread, then she took me around the city very quickly before depositing me off at the tourist office where I could get more information. The sights out there were awesome, old and full to the brim of culture. That night was Karelian stew, and the next day I was in Helsinki on an early train. I was so fascinated with the city's two museums of history, one on the city and another on Finland as a whole, that I spent almost all my time there, just shopping a little bit and seeing Senate square. Postcards will be in the mail soon, please send me your adress dear denverites who are always on the move! The next day, we went out with some finns, Elina, Melina, Irene and lots of finnish partying, dancing on tables, and Elina in a right state the next day. The day that I was supposed to leave Elina1's parents had me over for reindeer stew, which was absolutely gorgeous!
So leaving finland, not so nice! I left a day late because Elina wanted to keep me for a night at this cabin her boyfriend Tuomas's family owns and go to a Finnish Sauna. That was cool because I didnøt have reservations, however, it proved more complicated than anticipated when I finally tried to leave. The downside of my pass is that I ahve to often call and reserve places, especially ferries, expecially in the scandinavian countries it seems. The ferry from Hanko could upgrade me and give me a seat for only 58 euro, far outside my budget, so I came back to Turku and took the ferry back to stockholm the next morning, but my phone, for some odd reason, doesn't work at all in Finland, so I couldn't reserve trains in Sweden, so another night in the train station, this time in Nankoping, and now, after griftig a ride back on a high speed train, I'm in Copenhagen. Tonight I leave for Paris, how long I will be there I donøt know yet.
